We proudly present our new artist members in a brand new exhibition! After presenting the new artist members of 2023, we now present work by 18 artists who became members in 2024: UPDATE 1. A total of 38 artists became members in 2024, the first half of whom are now exhibiting. The very diverse artists are showing their work in both rooms of Arti. In a multifaceted exhibition, they will tackle a presentation of a series of recent works or a large installation.

For the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam, Alex Fischer created a design for a special draincover in collaboration with the City of Amsterdam and Waternet. Over the past 25 years, Alex Fischer has created 500 frottages of draincovers from 135 cities, 35 countries on 6 continents. His work shows the urban traces of our industrial environment and his growing collection reflects the diversity of time and culture.

Agniet Snoep's video installation Life in a Jar, created during the corona pandemic, consists of seven sealed jam jars with dreamlike scenes. The installation can be interpreted in different ways: as a reaction to the isolation of that period, but equally as a way of distancing oneself from the world outside.

Uzine Park is a South Korean artist. She has lived in the Netherlands since 2013. Many of her paintings are landscapes that take her back to her childhood. A recently relived experience, while visiting the Japanese gardens in Düsseldorf, therefore became a source of inspiration. The atmosphere there reminded her of her homeland (Korea).

Senad Alic (Sarajevo – Bosnië en Herzegovina, 1960) is een maatschappelijk betrokken illustrator en autonoom beeldend kunstenaar. Hij is verhalenverteller, conceptontwikkelaar, gastdocent, trainer en hij maakt kunst met kinderen en jongeren in azc's en met volwassenen in wijken en instellingen. Het gaat altijd over kunst, ‘de vlucht’, identiteit, diversiteit, onderweg zijn en ontmoetingen. Hij toont zijn werk in de nieuwe ledententoonstelling UPDATE 1 en op zondagmiddag 13 april is er een gesprek met publiek op basis van zijn werken.

On 27 October 2025, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th anniversary. To mark the celebration, last year George Maas portrayed people with an object that is typically Amsterdam. This could be anything: a street sign, piece of clothing, book, bicycle, flag, photo, artwork or another object that someone had owned for a long time or had made themselves.

Around 1840, Amsterdam was in a crisis of poverty and stagnation. Sarphati, a visionary with unprecedented energy, introduced several initiatives that restored vitality and social cohesion to the city.

The first idea for this project The Improvement House was to make a connection between Brazil and Amsterdam for the celebration of 750 years of Amsterdam. The connection became known: the Brazilian wood, Pau Brasil, Caesalpinia Echinata, which was grated in the penitentiary the “Rasphouse” by inmates to obtain red dye for the textile industry.

The Buning Brongers Prize is a biennial Dutch art prize for young painters. It is the largest private art prize in the Netherlands and has been awarded to 162 artists since 1966. Pulling Strings is an exhibition initially developed around the idea of the marionette. Throughout the month of July, a group of artists will collaboratively construct a world where non-human beings take over the space. With everything in motion and coming to life, the audience is invited to observe, interact, and play along. The artists will create distinct characters inspired by different life forms, which will come alive through the use of various materials and movements in an eclectic installation.
