      Uzine Park, 2025

'건양다경(建陽多慶)' means: We wish this year will be many sunny days and that many good and auspicious events will occur. This is what Uzine Park the artist wishes by doing everyday practice.

Uzine Park is a South Korean artist. She has settled in the Netherlands since 2013.
Many of her paintings are landscapes bringing her back to her childhood. A recently relived experience, while visiting the Dusseldorf Japanese gardens, therefore became a source of inspiration. The atmosphere there reminded her of her home country (Korea). From that she draws inspiration for her figurative work from magical day dreams, and imaginary memories mixed with photographic images. Her landscapes works are often based on her own photographs (and sometimes on her own self), they are not painted in a photorealistic style. But instead the photographs are used simply for reference.

Her work is inspired by Dutch nature and Dutch weather. Because she is living in a neutrally colored environment, she chooses to use pastel tone colors to make her world vividly, but also to invite her audience to do the same.

While painting, she brings together the cloud, wind, rain and the long grasses from the Netherlands. But she misses the sights of the mountains, the winding roads road, 억새 풀(silver grass). The elements of these natures are then mixed on a canvas and growing as "new nature".  So she feels she can create a new nature as a gardener in her own canvas.

The rain mixes with Sunshine to become a new form which she calls "Fluid Sunshine". It drips like rain, but shows itself as the colors of the sun and sky in yellow, pink and sky blue. They are called 'Fluid Sunshine' because they create, like 'pointillism', an illusion. And they engage different continent’s natures, and different time zone in the canvas. Here in the form of a sunny rain or a fluid sun ray. This gives movement in the paintings, with the yellow rays trying hard to illuminate the works themselves from within.

      Wednesday May 7 from 13-15H.
Minhwa (Korean tradition folk painting) workshop
      "I decide to be happy"
      € 25 - (including material) RSVP through uzinepark@gmail.com

Minhwa is traditional folk painting from 14centry(Joseon dinesty)  between the normal people(middle class, low class). They use Minhwa painting as 'wishes' , 'dreams come true'. many symbolical design has special meanings. for example, health of family, to have many children, success of family members . etc . Now, people still make this painting to meditate their mind by using happy colors. Therefore I want to share my story "how to become & to decide to be happy" with the audience together to have a beautiful life in anytime by our choice, our decision.
