Richard Kuiper en Monique Dukker
Monique Dukker, Arti member, invites Richard Kuiper to a duo exhibition of abstracted landscapes in Artspace.
Richard Kuiper and Monique Dukker will present their latest work from Feb. 17 through Feb. 21.
On Monday, Feb. 17, both artists will be present from 3 p.m. onwards. You can get acquainted then.
Their work shows an abstracted approach to the landscape. It is surprising to see how differently both artists interpret the landscape.
Richard Kuiper simplifies the landscape to essential visual elements and seeks a balance within it. In Richard Kuiper's work, acrylic on paper and canvas, abstract visual elements are used to evoke an atmosphere. A line, light and dark, a plane, express this imagery and attempt to evoke wonder for these elements.
Monique Dukker paints abstracted canals, pools and lakes with the surrounding nature. No human presence is apparent. Dark vegetation and reflections of the water are important elements. Vegetation forms a dense crown, a natural and wild setting. Water is mostly an enchanted mirror that welcomes and processes the chromatic hues of the sky. They are small paintings with a seemingly deceptive simplicity. They evoke a solitude.
