Marli Turion writes about this exhibition FRAGILE: 'Years ago I decided that my work should be about things that were very close to me. That resulted in work in which family portraits played a major role. Gradually, the subject evolved into "the woman". My women dance, imagine themselves unobserved, sometimes adopt expressive postures and above all are themselves. I often isolate and protect them with fragile transparent grids so that their soothing loneliness is reinforced. Actually, it is also about something else; the escape from reality. This is a classic romantic fact that can also be seen in my way of working. Making structures endlessly with spots and dots is a meditative and escapist process.'
