Workshop Minhwa - ‘I decide to be happy'
Uzine Park, 2025
건양다경 (Geonyangdagyeong) means: We wish for a year full of sunshine and happiness. This is also at the heart of Uzine Park's art practice - a daily exercise in hope and beauty. Uzine Park is a South Korean artist who has lived in the Netherlands since 2013. Her paintings, often landscapes, take her back to memories of her childhood.
On Wednesday 7 May, from 13.00 to 15.00, Uzine Park will give a special workshop at Arti:

Minhwa is a form of Korean folk painting that originated in the 14th century (during the Joseon Dynasty). This art form was intended for ordinary people - middle and lower class - and was often used as a visual “good luck charm”. Symbolic representations express desires such as health, fertility or family prosperity.
Today, Minhwa is still practised, often as a form of meditation, with the use of cheerful colours. During the workshop, Uzine Park shares her personal motto: Happiness is a choice. Together with the participants, she will work with this through this colourful painting.
