Marijke Thunnissen – van Lijn tot Leven
This concerns a letting.
‘We, as relatives of former Arti member and partner of former Arti chairman August Boucher, are pleased to show the work of recently deceased artist Marijke Thunnissen, in the halls of Arti et Amicitiae.
The exhibition aims to take audiences through the development of the artist's own style; from fledgling and traditional to apt and unique. Her family invites you to follow and celebrate Marijke's journey. They also offer enthusiasts the unique opportunity to choose a work and take it home at no cost. This is to allow as many people as possible to enjoy Marijke's artistic legacy and to pass on her never-failing inspiration.
‘How worth seeing the so-called ordinary!’
In my work, I seek the most individual;
that which both succinctly and accurately summarises.
The character, the circumstances
give tension and life;
that may well pry the form
until the subject becomes surprisingly himself.’
- Marijke Thunnissen
Marijke could make everyday life magical by seeing and striking the world around us through unique lenses. Throughout her life, she always continued to work hard at both further developing her imagination and her ability to share it with others in the material. For this, she had developed enormous tools, both in materials and techniques and words.
Her imagination, her ability and the accumulation of these we are happy to share with you.’
