The late Dateleed show
The late Dateleed show, a theatrical book presentation
Last May, Nijgh en Van Ditmar published the book Daten voor Gevorderden, written by Willy van der Griendt. Almost one and a half million over-65s in the Netherlands are single and thousands of them are dating.
The book attracted a lot of media attention and is already in its fourth printing.
Daten voor gevorderden is the 'coming of age' story of a not-so-young woman (75) who is looking for real love. She rolls from one date to the next, the men she meets are alternately fun, interesting, bizarre and extremely embarrassing, but the true one is not among them. She is increasingly faced with the question of what conditions her future partner must meet, and what does that wish list say about her? She encounters not only the men, but thus also herself.
Van der Griendt writes with a lighthearted pen about painful topics, such as the tragedy of loneliness. People experience her book as hilarious and moving. (Nico Dijkshoorn, This book grabs you by the throat, magisterially written).
Besides being a writer, Van der Griendt is also an actress and has written stage and song lyrics. This evening she will be interviewed by a very experienced journalist who wants to know the ins and outs of the story, and won't let go. A skit for two women in the (late) prime of their lives. An examination of love in later life.
Performers: Eva van Heijningen and Willy van der Griendt
The book will be on sale this evening and can be signed with an intimate note.
