At the first Kunstlievende Ledenborrel of 2025, Bas Lubberhuizen will give a lecture about distilling eau de vie from fruit. Bas Lubberhuizen founded the distillery in 2003 together with Henk Raaff, under the name Lubberhuizen & Raaff, located in Varik aan de Waal in the Betuwe. After many study visits to foreign distilleries, they imported the hand-beaten copper distillery from the Müller company from Oberkirch in the Black Forest. Distillery Lubberhuizen distills the best freshly picked, unsprayed fruit from the Betuwe into Eau de Vie of the purest quality. In contrast to factory processes, in which industrial alcohol mixed with essences is marketed as an alcoholic beverage, Stokerij Lubberhuizen distills completely traditionally, manually and sustainably. Eau de vie is a relatively unknown product in the Netherlands, but no less tasty. In other European countries we know it as Calvados, Slivovich, Poire Williams and Grappa, among others. Related products such as liqueurs and gins will also be discussed.

During and after the lecture you can taste a lot. Gathering in the club house at 18.00 h, lecture starts at 18.30 h in the upstairs room.
