Drainspotting | Alex Fischer
For the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam, Alex Fischer created a design for a special draincover in collaboration with the City of Amsterdam.
On November 6, 2024, the first one was placed together with the alderman at Waterlooplein. Starting in 2025, this draincover will be distributed in an edition of 1,500 in Amsterdam.
Over the past 25 years, Alex Fischer has created 500 frottages of draincovers from 135 cities, 35 countries on 6 continents. His work shows the urban traces of our industrial environment and his growing collection reflects the diversity of time and culture.
In this exhibition at Arti et Amicitiae, he is showing 20 selected Frottages 100 x 100 cm graphite on paper from 20 Cities.
From his specially designed 750th anniversary draincover, visitors can make their own frottages on Saturday, March 22, 12.00 -17.00 for the special event '24 hours Amsterdam Centrum' at Arti.
