Wellness, Wigs and Weapons unfolds as a series of boutiques where the familiar logic of shopping takes an unexpected turn. Entering Wellness, Wigs and Weapons feels like stepping into a boutique that has slipped out of alignment with reality. In the three zones of this so called boutique distinctions between the human and the non-human begin to erode. Wigs resemble organic growths; Wallpapers become disinfectants; Weapons feel intimate, almost wearable.

Within these environments, distinctions between people, commodities, design, production and spatial infrastructure begin to blur. Elements of wallpaper and advertising aesthetics seep into the objects on display, influencing how they are perceived. The textures of trees interact with the materials of a refrigerator, suggesting a continuum between commodities and the infrastructure that surrounds them.

What initially attracts the viewer gradually becomes unsettling. Wigs resemble organic growths, wallpapers transform into disinfectants, and weapons acquire an intimate, almost wearable quality. The exhibition creates a space that is at once seductive and disorienting.

At its core, Wellness, Wigs and Weapons reflects on presentation, consumption and desire. How are objects made appealing? What happens when the boundaries between product, environment and identity begin to dissolve?

All participating artists: Bein van Vilsteren, Chris van Baaten, Luca Mosbech, Marianne Theunissen, Shachaf Pereg. The collective The Blazed House is a group formed by Marianne Theunissen, Luca Mosbech, and Bein van Vilsteren.

From 9 to 22 October, Wellness, Wigs and Weapons will be open to the public during the installation period.

23 October | Special Unzipping | 18:00 – 21:00 (doors open at 17:30)

The exhibition will conclude with a festive finissage during Museum Night (7 November). Separate tickets are required for this evening and are available through the Museum Night organisation.
