Frank Lenferink creates drawings of everyday objects, presented frontally and filling the picture plane.

The objects are strikingly present, as if they could be touched, yet at the same time alienating through their unmistakable flatness. However, the work is not so much about what is depicted. The real subject is representation itself: how and at what point does a drawn rectangle become a recognisable object?

It is remarkable how little information is needed for us to recognise something highly specific.

Recently, Lenferink has been making drawings in coloured pencil, like small paintings.

On this occasion, the drawings are being offered at Arti et Amicitiae at a special friends' price.

The exhibition will open on Tuesday, 22 September at 5:00 PM, with an opening address by Geert Schriever.
