Dorrit Klomp is, besides painting, also musically active. Over the past 15 years she has participated as a gong and Asian flute player in the music group ‘Swara Santi’, led by Bagus Sudetja Krishna and Cees Rot, performing Balinese gong kebyar music.
Through this music and the accompanying dances she found inspiration, which led to the creation of an extensive body of work. Her fascination with Balinese dance, the colours of the costumes and the expression of the movements form a constant source of inspiration.
Her drawings and paintings are characterised by strong colours, a great sense of movement, rhythm and dynamism.
During performances of the Swara Santi orchestra in the Netherlands and abroad, she made many watercolours. During the corona period she managed to obtain a roll of plasterer’s paper just outside her home, on which she later elaborated the watercolours in an old monastery in Amsterdam.
