Überall Zwei
Participating artists: Ingrid Pasmans, Hils Robbé, Rita Rutten, Inge van der Storm and Ursula Metzler.
In this exhibition initiated by Ursula Metzler, five artists investigate what happens when they connect their work. What if passion meets order, improvisation comes up against planning, or chaos and harmony merge into a single image? This is the central question in this exhibition, where each work has its own origin and necessity, but is influenced by another, as if two different worlds coincide.
The artists meet regularly in their studios. This is where the first experiments arise: combining works without a pre-conceived plan. Driven by curiosity about what arises from the combination: when do the drawings let go of each other, when do they become a shared image? It turns out that some works reinforce each other, as if they had always been meant together, while others create an uncomfortable tension, which adds a different meaning.
The exhibition in ArtSpace invites you not only to view the works separately, but to discover what arises when they come together, when an I becomes a we. It is a surprising study of the power of contrast and the visual impact of collaboration of artists. Let it surprise you. Dare to look at the space between the works, where something unexpected can happen. It is a search for the unknown.
With the do-it-yourself combination book Überall Zwei, which is presented at the exhibition, we invite visitors to experience this quest for themselves.
