Human Water Foundation: Kick-off Exhibition
Kick-off Exhibition During Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
To mark the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Human Water Foundation presents its opening exhibition Human Water – On Body Agency, Vulnerability, and Resilience by artist Julia Winter, curated by Viola Winokan.

Human Water Foundation aims to promote awareness, wellbeing, and quality of life, particularly by strengthening and making visible the connection between art, culture, and medicine. The foundation works from four pillars:
- Art – Visual art that reveals what often remains unseen.
- Culture – Spaces that bring the work into shared conversation.
- Human – The person and the story behind the diagnosis.
- Science – Human Water Lab©: artistic research into quality of life.
Julia Winter’s work explores vulnerability and agency over one’s own body. In her installation, she envelops everyday household objects with empty morphine ampoules made of cold, medical glass. In doing so, she reveals the fragile boundary between relief, dependency, and the nature of the body and human existence itself. Art transcends language, breaks taboos, and touches intuition where words fall short. Through art, Human Water gives voice to experiences that often remain invisible, and to the isolation people feel during their struggle for health.
The Human Water Foundation team consists of Xiomara Phyllis Vos, Jolijn Postma, Dirk Jan Jager, Viola Winokan and Shireen Zuidema.
