Come Home
Wednesday 8 October at 17:00 opening by Sarah van Vliet PhD
Why the title Come Home?
On one hand because Natalia Cincunegui returned to her sources with this current exhibition after a short deviation of style and form, which you might have seen at her last one called Faithfully Dreamt [June 2025, Stadszwanen], where she showed her immediate visions without holding back. On the other, because it is a comforting phrase.
Come Home, whether it’s a child called by its mom, a lover by its sweetheart, or a man by God.
She now presents her newest work, a series of intimate portraits mostly with their eyes closed, looking inward and other human scenes, symbolizing a life sequence. Looming shadows signify the impending fate or emotional turmoil or ultimate mystery of those who cast them, see the inescapable emotional attachment between the figures.
The artist will be present daily between 17:00 and 18:00 hours.
Natalia Cincunegui developed a singular but extremely effective symbolism. She established certain visual images that through repetition -working in series- created a personal iconography.
