Red Light Jazz Festival
Erik Verwey Trio | Red Light Jazz Festival
On Friday 5 June, Arti et Amicitiae welcomes the Erik Verwey Trio as part of the Red Light Jazz Festival. An evening of sparkling piano jazz, lyricism and rhythmic energy, with free admission (registration required via “Reserve Tickets”).
The Amsterdam-based trio led by pianist and composer Erik Verwey presents a fresh, dynamic sound in which traditional jazz is enriched with influences from classical music, film scores and songs. Original compositions form the core of the repertoire.
Their debut album People Flow (2020) received enthusiastic international reviews and marked the start of a successful tour in the Netherlands and abroad. It was followed by About A Home and Live Encounters (featuring Hermine Deurloo), both of which were also well received.
The rhythm section is exceptionally strong: drummer Daniel van Dalen (known from Fuse, the house band of the television programme Podium Klassiek) has long been an indispensable force within the trio.
Double bassist Hendrik Müller, also known for his work with the Daahoud Salim Quartet, completes the trio with his warm and supple bass sound.
The trio has performed at, among others, the Bali Jazz Festival and has been touring internationally since 2021. At Arti, they bring their close musical interplay to the heart of Amsterdam.
