Maak je eigen Pop! Karakters creëren met gebruik van verschillende materialen, om zo in de huid te kruipen van iets of iemand anders. Om dit karakter vervolgens toe te voegen aan een collectieve installatie in de vorm van een reusachtig marionettenspel.

Pulling Strings is een tentoonstelling die is ontwikkeld rond het idee van de marionet. Gedurende de maand juli zal een groep kunstenaars gezamenlijk een wereld creëren waarin niet-menselijke wezens de ruimte overnemen. Met alles in beweging en tot leven komend, wordt het publiek uitgenodigd om te actief mee te spelen met het poppenspel. De kunstenaars zullen verschillende karakters creëren geïnspireerd door verschillende levensvormen, die zij tot leven zullen wekken door het gebruik van diverse materialen en beweging, om samen te laten komen in een eclectische installatie.
De tentoonstelling probeert onzichtbare krachten tot leven te brengen, te onderzoeken wat aan de touwtjes trekt en wat ons beweegt. Met neuzen als organen, dansende botten, vogelveren en verstopte theaters worden bezoekers verwelkomd in een landschap waar de grenzen tussen realiteit, fantasie, mens en dier vervagen. Er ontstaat een ontmoetingsplek waar wezens communiceren, niet via woorden of het verstand, maar door spel.
In Pulling Strings verkennen de kunstenaars de grenzen tussen hun individuele praktijken en het collectief en zullen ze samen de installatie in de ruimte organisch laten groeien gedurende de tentoonstelling. Door verschillende karakters te creëren en ermee te spelen als kinderen, speculeren we over het innerlijke leven van wezens en materialen. Daarbij proberen we afstand te nemen van hun gebruikelijke perspectieven, ons eigen bestaan te relativeren en een diepere verbinding met 'de ander' te bevorderen.
Als onderdeel van de tentoonstelling nodigen de kunstenaars iedereen uit om actief deel te nemen aan het marionettenspel. In de vorm van een sculpturale ontmoetingsplaats zullen er gedurende vier weekenden workshops zijn waar iedereen, jong en oud, kan meedoen om hun eigen karakter te creëren, waarbij men zich zal laten leiden door onze handen in plaats van hun hoofd.
Tijdens de opening en de finissage nodigen we kunstenaars, vrienden, poppenspelers en andere wezens uit om op te treden en elkaars werelden te laten samensmelten, waardoor een feestelijk carnavalesk poppenfeest ontstaat waar alle wezens het leven vieren.

Pulling Strings is an exhibition developed around the idea of the puppet. With noses as organs, dancing bones, bird feathers and hidden theaters the visitors are welcomed into a landscape where the boundaries between reality, fantasy, human, and animal dissolve, creating a meeting place for beings to communicate not through words or the mind, but through play.

Pulling Strings A Puppet’s Perspective
Pulling Strings is an exhibition initially developed around the idea of the marionette. Throughout the month of July, a group of artists will collaboratively construct a world where non-human beings take over the space. With everything in motion and coming to life, the audience is invited to observe, interact, and play along. The artists will create distinct characters inspired by different life forms, which will come alive through the use of various materials and movements in an eclectic installation.
The exhibition seeks to breathe life into invisible forces, exploring what pulls at the strings and what makes us move. With noses as organs, dancing bones, bird feathers and walking houses, visitors are welcomed into a landscape where the boundaries between reality, fantasy, human, and animal dissolve, creating a meeting place for beings to communicate not through words or the mind, but through play.
In Pulling Strings, the artists also explore the edges of their individual practices and the collective, continuously filling and growing the space as an organic whole throughout the show. By creating different characters and playing with them like children, they speculate on the inner lives of beings and materials. In doing so, they aim to distance themselves from their usual perspectives, to relativize their own existence, and foster a deeper connection with 'the other.' They also investigate whether it is possible to step into another's shoes and communicate through creation and play.
As part of the show, the artists invite everyone to actively participate in the puppet play. In the form of a sculptural meeting place reminiscent of the Tower of Babel, there will be workshops over four weekends where anyone, young and old, can join to create their own character, letting their hands lead instead of their heads. During the opening and the Finnisage we will invite artists, friends, puppeteers and other beings to perform and merge each other's worlds creating a festive carnavalesque puppet party where all creatures can celebrate life.
