STARTPOINT. presenteert een selectie van up-and-coming kunstenaars die vorig jaar zijn afgestudeerd aan de Europese kunstacademies. StartPoint Prize heeft Praag als uitvalsbasis en heeft zich in de afgelopen jaren ontwikkeld tot een prestigieuze prijs die nieuw talent in Europa op de kaart zet. De selectie kenmerkt een diversiteit van technieken, van installaties tot schilder- en videokunst.

STARTPOINT. wordt gesteund door het Tsjechisch Centrum Rotterdam, De Brakke Grond en het ministerie van cultuur in Tsjechië en de stad Praag.

Arti et Amicitiae proudly presents STARTPOINT.

StartPoint Prize for European art graduates annually conducts a search for the most promising up-and-coming artists graduated from art academies all over Europe. Startpoint 2021 is a selection from the comprehensive edition of 2020 that was presented during the lock-down in Prague. Not only were the graduation shows of the first pandemic year torpedoed by the restrictions, the possibilities for the StartPoint team to visit these shows were also extremely limited. However, we are very happy that this pandemic edition of STARTPOINT. provides us with new talents that master an original and inspiring view of the world around us. They deal with social and political issues using the means of visual art and photography in which images play a key role.

The exhibition in Amsterdam showcases the winner of the main prize, Suzanne Schols. She embodies the main theme of this exhibition: engaged research-based fictional stories resulting in a series of strong images. All artists will be present at the opening on September 3rd.
