Biografie
short bio
Gerda Kruimer her artworks are mostly based on an identical grid or are variations on a type, reduced to their essence. In her works, she primarily explores the grid itself as a carrier of meaning and content. Structures, patterns, systems, perception, the interaction between interior and exterior space, light and shadow, are elements that reflect a spatial awareness that characterizes her works. With her constructive approach, she creates an open spatiality in horizontal and vertical lines. If you tune in mentally, you can move between those lines.
Gerda Kruimer lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She studied Drawing and Art History (first degree) at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and Monumental Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. She exhibits on a regularly base and as an art curator she initiates international groupexhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad. She makes drawings, paintings, three-dimensional works, art installations and commissioned art. Her work can be found in public and private collections.
