Een totale installatie door Eleye Boerenkamps en Vita Buivid
in samenwerking met curator Nina Folkersma
Tentoonstellingstekst geschreven door kunsthistoricus en criticus Nadeche Remst
HOME(sweet)HOME: Actually not that sweet is de titel voor een nieuwe installatie ontwikkeld door twee kunstenaars waarbinnen het thema ’thuis’ wordt onderzocht en bevraagd samen met de bezoeker. Vanuit de affiniteit voor het thema en elkaars werk, roepen Vita Buivid (1962, Dnepropetrovsk, nu Dnipro, zij/haar) en Eleye Boerenkamps (1994, Deurne, zij/haar/hen/hun) gezamenlijk een totaalervaring op van een thuis in alle tentoonstellingszalen van Arti et Amicitiae waar onder andere foto’s, video’s en sculpturen te zien zijn en performances en publieke activiteiten plaatsvinden. In de tentoonstelling wordt de ervaring van een verhuizing overgebracht, waarvan niet duidelijk is of er iemand zojuist is ingetrokken of gaat vertrekken. De tentoonstelling is een amalgaam van objecten, kunstwerken en interieurdelen waar de bezoeker in op kan gaan.

Zondag 15 september, 14.00 – 16.30, Reparatie bijeenkomst met de Feministische Handwerk Partij (Emmeline de Mooij en Margreet Sweerts)
De Feministische Handwerk Partij is een politieke feministische kunstenaarsbeweging die zich toelegt op het bestuderen, repareren, oplappen en herstellen van textiel. Tijdens bijeenkomsten wordt het naaien gecombineerd met studeren en wordt de relatie met onze directe omgeving en de beschadigde wereld als geheel hersteld. Het naaien is een oefening van vertragen, belichamen en transformeren. Neem zelf een te repareren stuk textiel en naaibenodigdheden mee om deel te nemen aan de reparatie bijeenkomst.
Zaterdag 21 september, 13.00 – 14.30, Interactief Kookprogramma over de politieke invloed op eten door Vita Buivid (in het Engels)
Vita Buivid zal een gerecht bereiden in de tentoonstelling dat symbool staat voor haar moederland. Ze zal uitleg geven over de politieke achtergrond van het gerecht en de rol van koken in het leven van vrouwen in Oost-Europa. Na de performance wordt het eten uitgedeeld.
Donderdag 26 september 19.30 – 21.00, Feminist Reading Group gehost door Nadeche Remst
Samen met kunsthistoricus en criticus Nadeche Remst bestuderen we een tekst over feminisme en kunst, met een focus op de legendarische en vaak vergeten tentoonstelling Womanhouse (1972). Tijdens de bijeenkomst in de installatie bespreken we de tekst en wisselen we ideeën uit onder het genot van een drankje. Aanmelden kan door een mail te sturen naar studioeleye@gmail.com. HOME(sweet)HOME: Actually not that sweet is the title for a new installation developed by two artists who are brought up in different generations and cultural, national, social and geographical backgrounds. In this exhibition Vita Buivid (1962, Dnepropetrovsk, now Dnipro, she/her) and Eleye Boerenkamps (1994, Deurne, he/her/they/them) evoke an experience of a home where people are moving. They examine the notion of home as something that is constantly moving. The viewer can merge with the installation that covers all exhibition spaces at Arti et Amicitiae. There will be photo and video works, sculptures, performances alongside stuff and different public activities.

Sunday 15 September, 2 PM – 4.30 PM, Mending Circle with the Feministische Handwerk Partij (Emmeline de Mooij and Margreet Sweerts)
The Feministische Handwerk Partij is a political and feminist artist movement that is dedicated to studying, repairing, patching up, unlearning and mending. With their gatherings they intertwine needlework and studying they restore the relationship to our immediate surroundings and the damaged world as a whole. Repairing textiles is an exercise in slowing down, embodying and transforming. Bring your own piece of textile and notions to join the mending circle.
Saturday 21 September, 1 PM – 2.30 PM, Interactive Cooking Show on the politics of food by Vita Buivid
Vita Buivid will prepare a dish that can be considered a true symbol of her motherland. She will explain the politic notions around the dish and the role of cooking in the lives of women in Eastern Europe. After the performance, the food will be served.
Thursday 26 September, 7.30 PM – 9 PM, Feminist Reading Group hosted by Nadeche Remst
Join us for an evening with art historian and critic Nadeche Remst as we delve into a text about art and feminism, focusing on the legendary and often forgotten exhibition Womanhouse (1972). During the reading group, we will discuss the text and exchange ideas within the installation space while enjoying a drink. To sign up, please email studioeleye@gmail.com. Sunday 29 September, 3 PM – 4.30 PM Finissage and Artist Talk with visual artists Saskia Burggraaf and Brianna Leatherbury about the housing market, property, and alternatives
During this afternoon visual artists Brianna Leatherbury (1995, New York) and Saskia Burggraaf (1989 ?) will present their artistic research and how they deal with the economical and political powers influencing accessibility of houses, buildings, their function and the notion of property. In a Q&A the conversation will open up to the public. This event also marks the final day of the exhibition.
